On 5th June 2025, the Government of Rwanda official received provisionally the newly completed Rusizi II One Stop Border Post (OSBP) facility. This significant milestone marks a new chapter in promoting efficient cross-border trade, improved border management, and strengthened bilateral cooperation between Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Construction of the facility commenced on 7th October 2022, with the objective of streamlining the movement of people and goods, reducing delays, and enhancing revenue collection mechanisms at the border. The entire project was implemented with a budget of USD 6,765,597.00, and has been made possible through a strong partnership with TradeMark Africa, who officially handed over provisionally the facility during the commissioning ceremony.
Speaking at the event, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Infrastructure, Mr. Abimana Fidele, who also chaired the oversight committee on the project, expressed his appreciation for the collaborative efforts that contributed to the successful completion of the border post.
“The Rusizi II One Stop Border Post is a testament to what can be achieved through strategic partnerships and a shared vision for regional integration. This facility will not only boost trade facilitation but also foster socio-economic development across our borders,” he stated.
The facility is expected to significantly reduce processing times at the border, improve cost-efficiency, and enhance service delivery for travellers and traders.
The Government of Rwanda remains committed to advancing infrastructure that supports inclusive growth, enhances trade, and contributes to peace and stability in the region.
