H.E. President Kagame Inaugurates Renovated Amahoro Stadium, Pledges Continued Investment in Sports Infrastructure

President Paul Kagame affirmed Rwanda's commitment to advancing sports infrastructure and nurturing sports talents across the nation.
He highlighted this commitment on Monday 1st July, 2024, during the official inauguration of the newly renovated and expanded Amahoro Stadium.
The event drew a crowd of approximately 45,000 enthusiastic citizens from all corners of the country, filling the stadium almost an hour before the official ceremony began.
Football and sports fans have expressed their immense appreciation for this state-of-the-art facility.

Dr. Patrice Tlhopane Motsepe, President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), praised President Kagame for the remarkable stadium infrastructure. He acknowledged Rwanda as a model for sports infrastructure development in Africa.
President Kagame extended his gratitude to the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) and CAF, noting that Africa possesses abundant football talent. He emphasized that such infrastructure is crucial for nurturing and harnessing these talents, ultimately benefiting the entire continent.
The Head of State reiterated Rwanda's commitment to prioritizing the development of football and sports infrastructure in general.

The renovation of Amahoro Stadium, which began in early 2022 now boasts commercial spaces featuring restaurants and various businesses, enhancing the overall visitor experience.
In addition to the main stadium, which accommodates football, rugby, and athletics, an adjacent building dedicated to sports for people with disabilities was constructed. Furthermore, the small stadium, known as Petit Stade, was upgraded to a higher standard, providing top-notch facilities for indoor sports.
The comprehensive project to expand these sports infrastructures was completed at an investment of nearly 165 million US dollars.
This significant development underscores Rwanda's dedication to creating world-class sports facilities and promoting a thriving sports culture nationwide.
