RTDA AND SOUTH SUDAN ROADS AUTHORITY DEEPENS THEIR TIES

Peter Kuot Jel, the Undersecretary in Ministry of Roads & Bridges, South Sudan signs the MOU Imena Munyampenda RTDA

Tuesday, 11 October 2022

Rwanda Transport Development Agency (RTDA) and South Sudan Roads Authority signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to deepen cooperation in road transport development and capacity building.

The MoU was signed by Mr. KENYATTA B. WRARILLE, the Executive Director of South Sudan Roads Authority (SSRA) and the Imena Munyampenda, Director General Rwanda Transport Development Agency(RTDA).

Witnessed by Mr. Fidele Abimana, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Infrastructure of Rwanda, the MoU is a milestone achieved to reinforce the mutual relationship between two institutions. This will not only solicit safety along the road network but also enhance efficiency across national boundaries.

The officials believe, building capacities of their workforce will lead to a sustainable transport sector in both countries as well as improve their technical know-how to address the issues of unskilled labour.

The capacity building partnership started with technicians from South Sudan who conducted a two months’ program in Rwanda. As an impact, the beneficiaries gained improved skills in road transport planning and development, road safety audit and technology transfer.

The signing of MOU will contribute to strengthening institutional linkages, joint program development and donor fund mobilization, compliance with international arrangement and requirement.
