RwandAir opens flights to Bangui, Central Africa Republic
3 February 2021: Rwanda's national carrier RwandAir has launched its maiden commercial flight to Bangui, the Capital city of the Central African Republic. The airline will be operating two weekly flights from Kigali to Bangui-M'poko International Airport, on Wednesdays and Sundays.
Rwanda’s Minister of Infrastructure, Hon. Claver Gatete and Minister of Trade and Industry Hon. Soraya Hakuziyaremye were among passengers who boarded the inaugural flight. The Minister of Infrastructure, Hon. Claver Gatete, said “this is a good way to strengthen bilateral relations between Rwanda and Central Africa”.
“The move marks a new dawn in bilateral and trade relations between the two countries. We believe this new route will strengthen the growing trade ties in Africa and bolster Rwanda’s growing economy”, Minister Gatete said.
The launch of our new twice-weekly service to Bangui will open up a new lucrative market for RwandAir and help stimulate trade in the region and beyond Africa.
Bangui is the 30th destination served by the national carrier across 24 countries throughout Africa, Asia, Europe and the Middle East, before some flights were suspended last year due to the coronavirus pandemic.
