Russia and Rwanda signed the roadmap for the establishment of the Nuclear Science and Technology in Rwanda
Moscow, 16 May, 2019: The Russian State-owned nuclear group (ROSATOM) signed with Rwanda the roadmap for establishing Russian-Rwanda cooperation in the peaceful uses of atomic energy.
From ROSATOM the document was signed by Deputy Director General of ROSATOM Nikolay Spasskiy and while the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Rwanda to the Russian Federation Dr. Jeanne d’Arc Mujawamariya signed on behalf of the Government of Rwanda.
The document defines specific measures until the end of this year which relate to the start of the project to build the Nuclear Science and Technology Center based on a Russian-design research reactor in Rwanda. The Rwanda staff training in Russia is separately stated as key task.
The roadmap follows the Inter-Governmental Agreement (IGA) on peaceful uses of nuclear energy which was signed in Moscow between Rwanda and Russia on 05 December, 2018.
