Kivu Marina Bay hotel to open in December 2019

Minister of Infrastructure, Hon. Claver Gatete together with Governor of Western Province Alphonse Munyentwari and other government officials visited Kivu Marina Hotel and requested the operator to fast-track its opening.

Rusizi, 4 October, 2019:  Minister of Infrastructure Hon. Claver Gatete visited different infrastructure and features in Rusizi District to assess their progress. In accompaniment of other government officials; Governor Western Province Alphonse Munyentwari, Country Director of Trade Mark East Africa (TMEA) Patience Mutesi among others conducted the field visit on different projects including the luxurious Kivu Marina Bay Hotel located in proximity of Lake Kivu bordering the Democratic Republic of Congo. Other projects that were visited include; the sites where Rusizi III hydro power plant will be constructed together with Rusizi I Cross Border Market as well as sites for Rusizi II One Stop Border Post and Rusizi port to be constructed.

The 4-star deluxe hotel is meant to boost tourism in Western province and will create more jobs to Rusizi citizens, Rubavu and enhance cross-border movements between Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo. The hotel has 76 rooms including two presidential suites, was constructed by China Star ltd under the management of the local investment companies such as Wespic, the Development Bank of Rwanda (BRD) and the Catholic Church of the Western Province. Construction and civil engineering have been completed and the tentative soft opening is planned early December, 2019.
