Minister Gatete signs 2020/2021 Performance Contracts with Board members

Minister of Infrastructure, Hon. Claver Gatete during the digital signing of 2020/2021 Imihigo Performance Contracts with Board chairpersons of the Ministry's affiliated Agencies.

Kigali, 25 November 2020 - Minister of Infrastructure, Honourable. Claver Gatete presided over the signing of 2020/2021 Imihigo Performance Contracts with Board chairpersons of the Ministry's affiliated Agencies.

Minister Gatete noted that the signed Imihigo are tools to boost accountability and improve service delivery across the sectors. He requested Senior Managers to work hard and be result-oriented in line with the ministry mission.

In Rwanda,Imihigo also known as performance contracts, are signed between the President, local governments, and line ministries to achieve community targets. They play an integral role in the ability of the Rwandan government to deliver a better life for all. Minister urged leaders to aim at improving service delivery, so as to achieve all set targets in infrastructure sector, specifically in water and sanitation, transport, housing and urbanisation as well as energy development.  

Mrs. AKAMANZI Clare, the Chairperson of Air Transport and Logistics Board of Directors, signed the performance contracts for the financial year 2020/2021 on behalf of Air Transport and Logistics 

Minister Gatete also called upon agencies to be more vigilant in planning and implementation of projects since these sub-sectors have direct impact on the economic development of the country and the entire lives of citizens. Utilisation of resources, having ownership and integrity is vital to drive growth of infrastructure Sector and other sectors. “Minister emphasized”.

The signed Imihigo were set in line with Government policy priorities and outcomes enshrined in the National Strategy for Transformation, as well as other high level decisions such as Presidential pledges, National Umushyikirano and Leadership retreat resolutions.
