Minister Gatete visits Kinigi IDP New Model Village and other projects in Musanze

Kinigi IDP Model Village in Musanze District is expected to be complete before end June 2021

23 March 2021- Minister of infrastructure, Hon. Claver Gatete conducted a one- day site visit to Kinigi IDP Model Village to inspect the progress of several projects related to the Model Village under construction, currently at 72%.

This model village will be home to 144 families before end of 2021. The visit also toured around other ongoing projects affiliated to the model village which include living apartments, a secondary school, a modern Early Childhood Development Centre (ECD), green houses, poultry farming houses, a health post and sports facilities among others.

During the visit, the officials also inspected the status of 16.5 km of access roads to be rehabilitated around Kinigi area meant to accelerate business activities, boost competitiveness, and enable markets connectivity by easing movement of goods and people around that area.

The Ministry of infrastructure through Rwanda Transport Development Agency (RTDA) and Water and Sanitation Corporation (WASAC) in collaboration with Musanze District is on move to relocate existing utilities including water pipes along Kiningi road for better extension works and expected to be completed before June 2021.

All these projects go hand in hand with the access to water and electricity.
