Minister of State Eng.Patricie Uwase Inaugurates 110/30 kv substation and Mukungwa-Nyabihu transimission line

Nyabihu 09 July, 2022 – Nyabihu Substation project fully inaugurated by two years under construction. The event was officiated by the Minister of State in the Ministry of Infrastructure Honourable Patricie UWASE.

The completed facility has a 110kv transmission line linking it with Mukungwa I hydropower plant in Musanze district. The project is meant to provide quality of the electricity, stabilise distribution network and ensure reliable of power supply in different parts of the Northern, Western and Southern Provinces in Rwanda

This project will have direct impact on the lives of the citizens and it is part of our big plan to ensure that the Rwanda’s electricity supply meets the increasing demand. Minister noted

This is in line with NST1 ambitious targets where all households will have access to electricity 100% by 2024 from the current 71.92%. Much emphasis is put on stabilizing the entire network to accelerate economic activities in cities to increase industrial growth and other productive areas due to reliable and affordable electricity. Minister added.

The construction of this 40MV Nyabihu substation and related transmission and distribution lines will significantly reduce power outages, voltage fluctuations and voltage drops in different parts in the Western and Northern region.

The Government of Rwanda is continuously mobolising resources to ensure every citizen has access to electricity either through on-grid connection or off-grid solutions. This will enhance economic development and improve standardards of living in the communities.
