Ministers visited Gishuro/Kaborogota IDP new model village and other projects in Nyagatare
Nyagatare, 13 June 2020: In preparation of the National Liberation Day, five cabinet members accompanied by other Government officials visited Gishuro/Kaborogota IDP Model Village in Tabagwe Sector, Nyagatare District, to inspect several projects related to the IDP Model Village and expected to be inaugurated on this year’s Liberation Day.
The cabinet Ministers included Minister of Infrastructure - Hon. Claver Gatete, Minister of Local Government - Prof. Anastase Shyaka, Minister of Defense - Maj. Gen. Albert Murasira, Minister of Education - Dr Valentine Uwamariya and Minister of State in Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Resources - Dr Jean Chrysostome Ngabitsinze.
This model village will be home to 64 vulnerable families and it is located at 19 km from Nyagatare City. The visit also toured around other ongoing projects affiliated to the model village which include:
-31km Nyagatare-Tabagwe-Karama chip seal road;
-Tabagwe Health Centre (expanded);
-GS Tabagwe (a primary and secondary school being upgraded with construction of dormitories for learners and hostels for teachers who live far from the school), this school will be capable of hosting 2300 students;
-Early Childhood Development (ECD);
-Agriculture farms and cowsheds;
-Integrated new handcraft centre.
All these projects go hand in hand with the access to water and electricity. For electricity, the distribution lines have been upgraded from single - phase lines to three - phase lines (power used in industries).
