RWANDA EXPRESSES COMMITMENT OF BUILDING SUSTAINABLE WORLD CLASS AVIATION INFRASTRUTURE

Montreal, Canada- The 41st Session of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) General Assembly took place in Montreal, Canada.
This an annual event which brings together representatives of aviation sector from different countries purposely to share experiences on development sustainable aviation industry.
Honourable Minister Dr. Ernest NSABIMANA represented the Government of Rwanda at the assembly and reiterated the commitment to support the world class aviation infrastructure to promote economic activities such as trade, tourism and services in the air transport.
Rwanda has untapped investment opportunities in aviation sector including the construction of the New Bugesera International Airport of its kind on the African continent, rehabilitation and upgrading of the existing airports in the country. Similarly, more opportunities in service industry are encouraged in the country to create jobs and train the local workforce to technical know-how and skills in the sector.
Organised by the ICAO’s governing body and the Council, the general assembly is comprised of 193 Member States with the ultimate goal of establishing the worldwide policy of the Organization for the upcoming triennium. The forum is facilitating the aviation practioners to brain storm on technical, economic and regulatory factors meant to create enabling environment in doing business in the sector.
