Rwanda convenes the 69th Airports Council International (ACI) Africa board and committee meetings, regional conference, and exhibition.

The event gathered airport managers and other aviation industry executives to discuss various ways, aiming for shaping the airport industry sustainability.

Opening the event in the Kigali Convention Centre, Hon. Minister Dr. Ernest NSABIMANA reiterated the importance of the conference, mentioning that it is high time for the African countries to take actions in shaping up a Sustainable African Airport industry.

In November 2022, Rwanda was among 15 different countries that signed the agreement for the Single African Air Transport Market (SAATM), launched a cluster to pilot the project, after minimal progress since its launch in January 2018.

NSABIMANA carried on expressing the fact that Rwanda considers aviation sector as a key pillar to the country Economic growth, therefore there is need not only for a functioning airport and air navigation services but rather thriving, secure and welcoming airports.

The Government of Rwanda has put much efforts in investments of improved infrastructure and ICT around the current airports as well as developing a new international airport under construction in Bugesera district in Eastern part of the country.
