Rwanda signs with ASCENA to boost Air Navigation Services

Honorable Claver Gatete & Director General ASECNA, Mohammed Moussa, after signing of the MoU

Kigali, 6th December,2021- At the 33rd Kigali AFCAC plenary Kigali, Minister of Infrastructure, Honorable Claver Gatete & Director General ASECNA, Mohammed Moussa, signed a memorandum of Understanding(MoU) for the cooperation on Air Navigation & Air traffic services in Rwanda & ASCENA Member States for safety improvement. The MOU was signed on the 1st December 2021 at Kigali Convention Centre. The MoU will providing en-route air navigation services in the airspaces, coupled with organising the airspaces and air routes in compliance with the ICAO provisions, publishing aeronautical information, forecasting and transmitting information related to aviation meteorology. The cooperation will clearly define the implementation of safety and quality management system pursuant to the ICAO standards and recommended practices. ASECNA is an International public institution, which is governed by the 2010 revised Dakar Convention. It has a legal personality and enjoys a financial autonomy and was established on December 12, 1959 at Saint Louis in Senegal. The Agency for the Safety of Air Navigation in Africa and Madagascar (ASECNA) still remains an accomplished model of collaborative management of airspaces after more than half a century.
